The choir is fortunate to have a young and talented Assistant M D. Christopher is a graduate of Music from the University of Bristol, where he majored in performance and composition. At Bristol he conducted the University Wind Orchestra leading over 80 members every week. He was a member of the University Chamber Choir and Madrigals Ensemble and travelled to Belgium and Poland.
Christopher also had his first piano lessons with Mr. Sydney Jones and subsequently passed all his piano examinations up to grade 8 under the direction of Mr. Howell Price. He achieved grade 7 on the trombone and commenced playing in the Glynneath Silver Brass Band before moving up to the Mid Rhondda Brass Band. During this time Christopher was also a member of the West Glamorgan Youth Brass Band and Wind Orchestra. He has also passed all his examinations in voice up to grade 8.
Christopher has been a member of Pelenna Valley Male Voice Choir since he was 16 years old. He was a member of the National Youth Choir of Wales for 5 years and the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales for 2 years. For the last 5 years he has been working for Cerdd NPT Music Service teaching brass, voice and curriculum.
Chris is fully committed to his work in leading the choir as well as arranging new pieces for the choir to perform. His enthusiasm and dedication are much appreciated by all the choristers.
