The choir was founded in 1980 in the small village of Tonmawr. In 2019 the choir was augmented by an influx of new members when the nearby Bryncoch choir, in nearby Neath, closed.
The choir has had a long involvement with Katherine Jenkins who is an honorary patron of the choir. Some years ago, Katherine was a recipient of the Richard Harris Memorial Fund which is run by the choir. We were very pleased to have been the choir chosen by Katherine to perform with her at a concert held upon a return visit to our home town. We have also accompanied Katherine on a “Songs of Praise” television programme.
We were delighted to have been the choir selected to sing at two major celebrity events. One a celebration concert for the Hollywood star and choir patron Michael Sheen. We also sang at the 70th birthday party of Sir Anthony Hopkins at Margam Orangery. This event was attended by many famous personalities and it was indeed a great honour for the choir to have been chosen.
